Ilkka Puputti

Principal Horn

Ilkka Puputti has studied at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Timo Ronkainen, Esa Tapani and Thomas Jöbstl. As of 2011, he has worked as principal horn in the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, which is the job he dreamed of during his studies. During the 2017 spring season, Puputti served as guest principal with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra.

Puputti is also an active freelance musician, and has performed at numerous chamber music festivals and as an orchestra assistant to most Finnish symphony and chamber orchestras. He has held soloist positions with, for example, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic Orchestra, Lapland Military Band, Sibelius Academy Sinfonietta and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Symphony Orchestra. Puputti is a member of the Auriga wind quintet and works as a part-time horn teacher at the Lapland Music Institute.
